Can A Smile Makeover Change the Shape of My Teeth?

Porcelain veneers are a cosmetic dentistry procedure that Dr. Timothy Luong uses to help his patients transform their smiles. These thin porcelain shells are custom-made to fit over your natural teeth. During a smile makeover in Henderson, NV, she has used veneers to successfully correct broken, crooked, chipped, and stained teeth.

They can both resize and reshape teeth for patients that are self-conscious about their smile. Ultimately, they are a great solution for those looking to rejuvenate their smile. At Ascend Dental Studio, we offer consultations where we can discuss smile makeover procedures, such as veneers, that can change the shape and size of your teeth.

Are you a candidate for veneers in Henderson, NV?

A candidate for veneers is a patient with healthy teeth and gums. Dr. Timothy Luong can assess your teeth for signs of gum disease, plaque, or cavities. If anything is found, it must be resolved before veneers can be applied. Optimal oral health is important to make sure that your veneers remain looking and feeling their best. At our Henderson, NV, dental office, your oral health, and how your smile looks are both equally important to us. Our cosmetic dentist is a board-certified doctor of dental medicine who is trained to diagnose and treat oral health conditions.

How do veneers help with teeth reshaping?

These porcelain shells are applied to cover the front surface of your teeth. Veneers can change the color, size, shape, or length of your teeth. Most importantly, they are long-lasting, as a small portion of tooth enamel is removed to help with the adhesion process.

How are dental veneers installed?

The veneer process at Ascend Dental Studio in Henderson, NV, includes:

1. Consultation: At a consultation, she can determine if veneers would be beneficial for your oral health. This is important as once these dental veneers are placed, they can’t be removed.
2. Enamel etching: Our cosmetic dentist will remove a small amount of enamel from the front of your teeth. This helps the veneers to adhere better.
3. Selecting your shade: We know you want a white smile, but if we go too white, then it won’t look natural. A few shades lighter is the best choice when you are looking to improve your smile.
4. Make your impressions: Our dental team makes impressions of your teeth to create a custom veneer that will both fit you correctly and feel most comfortable.
5. Create your permanent set: We send your impressions to a dental laboratory for your custom made veneers to be made.
6. Placement: Dr. Timothy Luong places your long-term veneers after the lab has finished them. These veneers almost instantly change the color of your teeth as well as resize and reshape your teeth. Minor adjustments can be made to ensure they fit comfortably.

Maintaining your veneers

It’s important to care for your veneers as they can become discolored. This is why Dr. Timothy Luong recommends limiting coffee, tea, wine, and other stain-inducing drink consumption after getting veneers. You should clean your veneers like your natural teeth with regular brushing and flossing in your home. You should also schedule regular annual dental exams and bi-annual dental cleanings to ensure your teeth and gums look and feel their best.

How long do veneers last?

Porcelain veneers are durable and can last up to 15 years when you care for them well. For some patients, their veneers may need to be repaired or, in severe cases, replaced. When you get custom veneers, you must protect them to make sure they last a long time.
