When most people think of BOTOX, they think of eliminating wrinkles and fine lines. This is a central component of the procedure, but there is so much more it can do. Dr. Timothy Luong offers this injection as well as other dermal fillers to help people get more beautiful smiles. If you have an issue with your dental or facial health, then talk to our dentist about this cosmetic service.
1. Reducing Puckered Chins and Lip Lines
Wrinkles can be prominent on the forehead and by the eyes. However, they can also form around the mouth. This is a problem because a person’s smile is often the first thing others notice. If you have fine lines forming around the mouth or lips, then you can reduce the appearance with BOTOX injections.
2. Eliminating “Gummy” Smiles
One way people get a “gummy” smile is when the gum tissue recedes too much, and the roots of teeth are exposed. Other people get these smiles due to an over-retracted upper lip. Anyone who falls into the latter category should look into dermal fillers to prevent the lip from retracting as far. The filler can numb the surrounding area, so your lip does not go back as much.
3. Lessening Headache Pain
Many people suffer from headaches and other pain as a result of temporomandibular joint disorder. When the joint in the mouth sustains damage, it becomes far more painful to open and close the jaw. Some patients develop chronic headaches from the increase in muscle tension. Fortunately, BOTOX reduces much of this tension. This results in less discomfort until the joint can heal.
