Will the Color of my Veneers Match My Natural Teeth?

One of the most effective ways to enhance the look, confidence, and quality of your smile is through the cosmetic dentistry solution of porcelain veneers. Aesthetic imperfections, like minor cracks or chips in front teeth, worn bite edges, or stains can diminish a person’s appearance. With porcelain veneers, men and women can transform these flaws for a more balanced, vibrant, and younger-looking smile. However, are you worried about the color of your front teeth veneers not matching your natural teeth on each side? Are you looking to upgrade your smile but are worried about choosing dental veneers?

At Ascend Dental Studio, near Henderson, NV, countless patients have enjoyed how porcelain veneers blend seamlessly with their natural teeth for fantastic results. Read on to learn how Ascend Dental Studio uses this timeless technique to create a custom smile makeover for each patient and why dental veneers are a popular cosmetic option.

How do veneers work?

Modern dentistry offers today’s patients myriad options for enhancing and revitalizing the look of their smile. With state-of-the-art facilities and dental treatments now more minimally invasive than ever, overcoming a wide variety of smile imperfections is something that many Henderson, NV patients can experience. Veneers, also known as dental laminates, are thin, shell-like restorations often made of porcelain that can conceal or transform smile flaws into a more uniform, straighter appearance. These custom-crafted laminates are bonded securely to the front surfaces of the teeth and are able to mask several types of dental issues, such as:

• Discolored, stained, or yellowish teeth
• Worn-down or uneven teeth
• Slight gaps or overlapped teeth
• Chipped or cracked teeth

Are there different colors of veneers?

Porcelain veneers are fabricated of the finest quality porcelain. However, they are not a one-size-fits-all solution. The shade and shape that looks best for one patient may not look right for another person. During a comprehensive dental exam, Dr. Timothy Luong will determine how many veneers will be necessary and help guide each patient on their final choice to match a person’s natural teeth. It is also helpful if patients have a general idea of what they want their porcelain veneers to look like before their appointment. Here are some guidelines to keep in mind when it pertains to the color of veneers:

• Patients with fairer skin tones should pick a light shade to make their teeth appear whiter
• Patients with darker skin tones should avoid bleaching or the whitest color available, as this will look unnatural
• Dental veneers should never be whiter than the whites of your eyes
• Discuss veneer color layering, which can make them look more natural and translucent

Do porcelain veneers change color or stain?

In some cases, patients only need front teeth veneers to hide minor dental issues when smiling. Because of the smoothness and density, porcelain veneers are nonporous and stain-resistant. Like glass, pigments from dark-colored food or beverages will slide right off. Unlike teeth whitening or cosmetic bonding, the color of veneers don’t change and provide a more consistent option over the years.

Patients who care for their porcelain veneers with proper daily brushing and flossing, along with regular dental cleanings, can enjoy their dental laminates for many years. With the aesthetic quality of porcelain material and a natural luster, veneers can bring an attractive, high-end change to your teeth to help you feel more confident when you smile.
